Small Beginning, Great Ending
Text: Psalm 126

The greatest testimony of a small beginning and a great ending is our dear Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Born in total obscurity and announced by angels from heaven, the Light of the world entered the world He created in a small corner, completely ignored by His subjects. But the secret behind His stupendous greatness was revealed in the voices that came from heaven.

Matthew 3:16-17 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

There is no higher level of greatness than divine endorsement. King David’s experience proved that a man endorsed by God is a man promoted and prospered by God. Samuel prophesied about what God was in search of in 1 Samuel 13:13-14

“13And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel forever. 14But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.”

This testimony was borne out in Acts 13:21-22

And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Our reference Scriptures speak about what God can do, as revealed in 1 Samuel 2:7-8
“The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he hath set the world upon them.”

Also in Psalm 68:6,
“God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”

God’s divine ability to bless and to prosper is not in doubt. But where the challenges are is in what we may call ‘positioning indices’. How can we position ourselves for divine elevation and blessing? When we look at the life and work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we see that the foundation is the will of God and the ways of God as revealed in Matt 11:28-30

“28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Let us pray for grace to stand firmly in the will of God, walking daily in the ways of God for that guarantees that our small beginning will lead to great ending in Jesus mighty name. (Amen).
